The International Biochar Initiative – a non-profit member organization providing a platform for fostering stakeholder collaboration in the biochar industry, and the U.S. Biochar Initiative – a not-for-profit organization aiming to promote and ensure the sustainable production and use of biochar through research, policy, and technology, are teaming up to launch the Global Biochar Industry Study.
The study is a market snapshot of the global biochar industry, which will aim to benefit industry participants and serve as a valuable information resource for policymakers and investors worldwide.
The public is invited to take part in a survey until December 1, which will help with the report’s data collection that will provide critical biochar market information and insights. The report is coming in February 2024. As per the announcement, respondents will receive free access to the final analysis with anonymized and regionalized data.

The data is needed for different purposes, critical for the biochar ecosystem like funding, policy outcomes, garnering media attention, and facilitating additional outreach to markets for biochar. The survey targets a variety of stakeholders in the biochar industry to take part in, such as buyers, sellers, producers, researchers, manufacturers, technology providers, media, etc. No individual data will be shared to ensure the utmost data security and confidentiality.
