Brooge Energy is a Cayman Islands-based energy infrastructure provider, engaged in clean petroleum products, biofuels, along with crude oil storage and related services.

In a project lasting more than a year, thyssenkrupp (a German industrial engineering and multinational conglomerate) has completed an intensive Technical Concept Study for Brooge Energy, which included an accompanying financial analysis for a proposed green hydrogen/ammonia plant.

The facility will employ thyssenkrupp-developed technology for both water electrolysis and ammonia synthesis.

The planned green ammonia plant will be built in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The proposal is for a sustainable operation for producing green ammonia from green hydrogen using electricity powered by solar energy with water and air as raw materials.

Using thyssenkrupp’s proprietary modelling tool, the study included a comprehensive techno-economic analysis of the overall cost-effectiveness of the r-to-ammonia value chain.

The goal was to evaluate the influence of various factors on the overall efficacy of the green ammonia plant.

Lina Salah Saheeb, Interim Chief Executive Officer of Brooge Energy commented, “This Technical Concept Study is a significant milestone in our journey towards a sustainable energy transition. The study’s results will help us determine the optimal setup for our green ammonia plant and guide our future investment decisions.”

thyssenkrupp’s modelling tool allowed planners to fully integrate the plant design and optimise technical specifications.
