DAI Infrastruktur is dedicated to establishing East Port Said as a prominent green ammonia hub in the East Mediterranean. The strategic location of the plant, offering convenient access to the sea, is poised to support the maritime industry by facilitating vessel bunkering and enabling the transportation of green ammonia to European off-takers.

Ioannis Papassavvas from DAI emphasized the intention to sell the majority of the produced green ammonia to German and European off-takers, with a primary focus on the maritime sector as a sustainable fuel. The plant’s proximity to the Suez Canal and its location within the East Port Said harbor ensure bunkering services for vessels powered by green ammonia.

The International Energy Agency’s Net Zero Roadmap predicts ammonia to become the leading alternative fuel in the shipping sector by 2050, accounting for 44% of final energy consumption. The Ra Green ammonia project aligns with global efforts to transition to sustainable and clean energy sources, contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions in the maritime industry.

The collaboration between DAI and Siemens Energy marks a significant step toward advancing green hydrogen production and fostering the use of green ammonia in the shipping sector, aligning with the broader goals of achieving a carbon-neutral future.
