Avina Clean Hydrogen, Inc, specialises in the green hydrogen sector with an advanced portfolio of clean hydrogen plants under development and access to proprietary technology solutions.

It recently entered into an agreement with KBR, a company specialising in green ammonia, with more than 250 ammonia plants across the globe.

Under the terms of the agreement, Avina will uses KBR’s K-GreeN technology to produce the first of its kind ammonia plant in the United States.

The KBR design for Avina provides a fully integrated green ammonia solution from electrolysis through to ammonia synthesis. It is predicted to produce 2,200 metric tons per day of green ammonia.

Vishal Shah, Founder & CEO of Avina Clean Hydrogen explained the partnership, “KBR is the world leader in ammonia technology and extremely well positioned to work collaboratively with innovative companies like Avina to bring this first of a kind green ammonia project in the United States.”

KBR is a world leader in ammonia techlogy. Since 1943, KBR has licensed and designed more than 250 ammonia plants across the globe.

Doug Kelly, KBR’s president of technology, said, “This project underscores that green ammonia can be produced economically at a commercial scale and we look forward to working closely with Avina to ensure a successful implementation.”

The U.S Gulf Coast green ammonia facility, which has been under development since 2021, reached a number of critical milestones over the past 18 months.

In December 2022, the project executed off-take agreement with a blue-chip customer for 100% of phase 1 production of 100,000 metric tons per annum.

In the second phase, the plant will be expanded to an annual production capacity of 700,000 metric tonnes and will be fully powered by renewable energy.
