The Power-to-X sector in Denmark is gaining ground with one project, in particular, making gains on an industrial scale.
HØST PtX is a project focused on achieving long-term sustainability by using an 800MW electrolyzer and ammonia loop to make green ammonia from offshore wind in the North Sea.
Enlit on the Road visited Esbjerg in Denmark and spoke to David Dupont-Mouritzen, Project Director at HØST PtX, about this cutting-edge project, which is due to break ground in 2025.

“I think one of the main advantages or uniqueness factors that Denmark has compared to other countries is actually the access to green power from the North Sea…so we actually are in a good position to provide an interesting level of energy cost for the PTX industry,” says Dupont-Mouritzen.
The power-to-X project in Denmark reached a significant milestone in January this year bysigning a grid connection agreement with Danish TSO Energi. Having access to power is critical, said Dupont, adding that being grid connected is part of their business model.
And with the maritime sector experiencing an awakening concerning green fuels, Dupont-Mouritzen is looking forward to increased procurement of green ammonia, coupled with longer-term contracts.
