ST. JOHN’S, N.L. — Qalipu Holding Limited Partnership has signed a partnership agreement with DOB-Academy to develop green energy training in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The agreement was signed during the World Hydrogen Summit 2023, an annual convention that saw more than 8,000 energy industry and government professionals gather together.

The project aims to be Canada’s first commercial green hydrogen and ammonia producer created from more than three gigawatts of wind energy in the province.

World Energy GH2 has a memorandum of understanding with Qalipu First Nation, and DOB-Academy is one of its project partners.

The partnership agreement allows Qalipu First Nation to access DOB-Academy’s expertise in renewable energy education and training, which lets the community play an important role in developing green energy in the region.

The signing of this partnership agreement represents a major milestone in the transition to sustainable energy sources in the province.

It also highights the importance of collaboration between industry and indigenous communities in the search for a cleaner and greener future.

Qalipu Holding Limited Partnership CEO John Davis said he is pleased to sign the partnership agreement.

“This agreement represents the first step in establishing a full joint venture which will lead to an unprecedented new level of wind energy training capacity for both Qalipu members and other workers interested in the green energy sector,” said Davis.

“In conjunction with our DOB partner, this training will be at a world-class level and the first of its kind in the province. This is an exciting day for Qalipu Holdings.”
