SCZONE And ReNew Power Collaborate To Establish Green Hydrogen Plant In Sokhna Industrial Zone
New Delhi played host to discussions between representatives from SCZONE (Suez Canal Economic Zone) and ReNew Power, a renowned Indian company specializing in renewable energy. The outcome of these discussions was the signing of a framework agreement between ReNew Power and SCZONE to establish a green hydrogen production plant in the Sokhna industrial zone. The plant is projected to have an initial capacity of 20,000 tons per year, with the potential for expansion up to 220,000 tons annually. The estimated investment for this ambitious project is approximately $8 billion. The green hydrogen production plant will be implemented in phases, with the first phase focusing on an experimental stage aimed at producing 20,000 tons of green hydrogen per year. This will involve the use of electrolyzers with a capacity of 150 megawatts, complemented by 570 megawatts of renewable energy to produce 1,000 tons of green ammonia annually.

WAPDA And UAE Firm Sign MoU For Developing Floating Solar Power
WAPDA signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with the Private Office of His Royal Highness Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum of the United Arab Emirates. The MoU was signed by Chairman WAPD t Gen Sajjad Ghani (Retd) and His Royal Highness Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum on behalf of their organizations. The first MoU is aimed at establishing a framework for cooperation and collaboration between the Private Office of His Royal Highness Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum and WAPDA to explore investment opportunities for WAPDA’s small hydel power stations including 1MW Renala, 22 MW-Rasul, 13.2 MW-Chichokimalian and 13.8 MW-Nandipur. The second MoU is related to exploring investment opportunities in the energy sector of Pakistan, specifically for the development of floating solar power projects on water reservoirs and water bodies of the existing hydel power stations of WAPDA.

Syria’s Sargaya Town Witnesses Construction Of Two Solar Power Plants
In a positive stride toward sustainable energy, the town of Sargaya in Syria is witnessing the construction of two solar power plants set to transform the local eletricty landscape. The Syrian Ministry of Electricity is leading the development of a 100 kW solar power plant, scheduled for completion in 2023. This project aims to generate sufficient electricity to power around 100 homes, providing a reliable and eco-friendly energy source for residents. Simultaneously, a private company is building a 50 kW solar power plant in Sargaya, slated to be operational by 2024. Once completed, this plant will produce enough electricity to meet the needs of approximately 50 homes, contributing to the town’s sustainable energy infrastructure.
Egypt’s Updated NDC Sets Ambitious Target For Renewable Energy Capacity By 2030
The Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt (GoE) announced its updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), a step that reflects the country’s commitment to accelerating the transition towards a low-carbon development pathway by increasing the development and deployment of renewable energy to reach the target of 42% installed caacityby 2030 instead of 2035. Dr Rania Al-Mashat, Egypt’s Minister of International Cooperation, stated that this important milestone comes in line with the Political Declaration that was announced during COP 27 between Egypt, Germany, and the United States of America, whereby the update of NDC by Egypt secures grants, debt swaps, concessional finance and catalyzes private investments to support the Energy Pillar within the Country-led Platform of the Nexus of Water Food and Energy NWFE.

This joint project, supported by Farjallah Group, as an approved contractor for TotalEnergies Marketing Lebanon selected for this project, is expected to be completed by the third quarter of the year. Upon completion, the robust solar system will generate more than 1.1 MWp, with 756 kWp dedicated to the Mar Roukoz Science and Technology Campus and 352 kWp to the Huvelin Social Sciences Campus. This project will contribute to 550 tons of CO2 reduction per year and is equivalent to powering 250 single-family Lebanese houses per year.
TotalEnergies-Led Consortium Secures Financing For 119 MWp Solar Power Plant In Saudi Arabia
A consortium consisting of TotalEnergies from France, Toyota Tsusho from Japan, and Altaaqa Renewable Energy (Zahid Group) from Saudi Arabia has secured financing for the construction of a 119 MWp solar photovoltaic power plant in Wadi Ad-Dawasir. The project, part o Saudi Aabia’s National Renewable Energy Program, has reached a significant milestone with the completion of a financial close involving local lenders APICORP and Riyadh Bank. The consortium, responsible for the development, ownership, and operation of the plant, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Saudi Power Procurement Company. With this achievement, TotalEnergies solidifies its position as a major player in renewable energy in the region, complementing its existing projects in Iraq, Qatar, and the UAE.

Assystem will leverage its extensive expertise by deploying a team of experts to deliver a comprehensive range of services for solar park projects. Qudra Inaugurates Largest Solar Power Plant In Palestine
In partnership with the Jerusalem District Electricity Company and in cooperation with the Municipal Council of Deir Abu Mashaal, Qudra Company inaugurated the largest solar power plant in Palestie, with a ttal capacity of 8.25 megawatts/peak, in the village of Deir Abu Mishaal, west of Ramallah. The new solar power plant, which was designed and developed by Qudra using the latest solar photovoltaic technology for JDECO, will contribute to an area of more than 100 dunums of land in the village of Deir Abu Mishaal, to respond to the electric power needs of people in the area and the surrounding villages of Abu Mishaal and Nabi Saleh.
