ATOME Energy PLC (AIM:ATOM) (ATOME Energy PLC (AIM:ATOM)) chief executive Olivier Mussat is delighted to have Baker Hughes as a strategic partner.
Mussat joined the Proactive studio this week to talk about the hydrogen and ammonia company’s deal with the engineer which will help advance the Villeta project in Paraguay.
It includes a £2.4 million investment which will be spent at Villeta which is described as potentially the largest green fertilizer project in the world.
The investment will help ATOME to accelerate Villeta project and bring it into commercial operation.
Villeta will be a 120 megawatt (MW) green hydrogen and ammonia production facility, designed to use renewable energy to produce green hydrogen that subsequently is a feed which will in turn produce ammonia.
Downstream, the ammonia will be used to produce fertiliser.
Experts see the investment from Baker Hughes as a vote of confidence in ATOME’s technology and business model.
Significantly, Baker Hughes is amongthe leaders in turbomachinery equipment which is essential for the production of green hydrogen and ammonia.
“Baker Hughes is a world leader in energy technology, and their investment will help us to accelerate the development of the project and bring it to commercial operation,” Mussat said in the interview.
“The Villeta project will be the largest green fertilizer project in the world, and it will help to meet the growing demand for sustainable agriculture.”
The global demand for fertilizer is expected to grow in the coming years, driven by population growth and increasing demand for food.
Green fertilizer is a more sustainable alternative to traditional fertilizer, as it does not produce greenhouse gas emissions.
Villeta will help to meet the growing demand for green fertilizer and contribute to the fight against climate change.
“We are excited to partner with ATOME on the Villeta project,” said David Cogan, President of Baker Hughes’ Turbomachinery & Process Solutions buiness.
“The Villeta project is a landmark development in the global transition to a low-carbon economy. Baker Hughes is committed to supporting our customers in their efforts to decarbonize, and we are proud to be a part of this important project.”
Villeta is expected to be completed in 2025. Once operational, the project will produce up to 250,000 tonnes of green fertilizer per year.
The fertilizer will be sold to farmers in Paraguay and other countries in South America.
The investment from Baker Hughes is a significant milestone for ATOME Energy.
It will help ATOME to accelerate the development of the Villeta project and bring it to commercial operation.
ATOME believes Villeta will be the largest green fertilizer project in the world, and it will help to meet the growing demand for sustainable agriculture.
