This symposium will focus on the topic of alternative input material for pyrolysis under the motto „Everything but Wood“. The background for this issue is the significant extension of legal input materials according to the updated EU rules on fertilizing products (regulation 2019/1009) or issues like competition for biomass, among others. What biogenic residues beyond wood have already been put to use successfully? What applications of the biochar gained from those materials have proven successful? Are there technical innovations which make input materials seem attractive that have not been widely used yet?
