Biochar and hydrochar are produced from conversion of biomass in non-aqueous and aqueous media, respectively. Biochar and hydrochr from algae have unique properties such as high surface area (porous structure) and richness in alkaline and alkaline earth metals. Biochar and hydrochar from algae can be used as catalyst/support and as electrode material for electrochemical applications. This talk was presented as part of the Green Carbon Webinar Series.
