State-owned power plants, NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) and HPCL Mittal Energy (HMEL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday for the generation and supply of renewable energy (RE) and development of green hydrogen businesses.

The MoU was signed by the two General Managers, V V Sivakumar at NGEL and Girish Ghildiyal at HMEL.

According to the NGEL statement, the collaboration will source the 250 MW RE-RTC (Round-The-Clock) power requirement of HPCL Mittal Energy and would further explore the green hydrogen business and its derivatives (Green Ammonia and Green Methanol).

NTPC is in the business of power generation with a total installed capacity of 72 GW (including JVs and subsidiaries).

HMEL is a joint venture between HPCL and Mittal Energy Investments, an integrated refining and petrochemical company in India engaged in the business of superior petroleum and petrohemical products.
