Global ammonia prices assessed by Platts have fallen by 60% to 70% since the start of the year, reflecting weaker natural gas feedstocks and slack demand. Register Now While gray ammonia prices dominate the cheaper end of the selection, a steep decline in value is evident across blue ammonia production pathways since the start of 2023. Leading the field in terms of value decline is the Middle East, where Platts’ FOB gray ammonia assessment has fallen 70% since January, while the comparable FOB blue ammonia assessment has fallen 69%. Black Sea, US Gulf Coast and Far East Asian assessments then make up a block of the next cheapest sources of ammonia before the first Northwest European price makes an appearace in the table.This premium market has seen its own values crash this year, CFR Northwest European spot prices for conventional ammonia falling below $400/mt April 25, down around 60% since the start of the year according to S&P Global Commodity Insight pricing data.
