Bhubaneswar: In order to activate the New and Renewable Energy efforts, Principal Secretary Energy and Finance, Vishal Kumar Dev has reviewed the performance of Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA).
The Principal Secretary visited the OREDA Headquarters on 21 November and reviewed the activities carried out by the OREDA. Senior Officials of Department of Energy and GRIDCO were present in the meeting.
He took the stock of Konark Net Zero Scheme, PMKUSUM-B, Soura Jalanidhi Scheme under Biju Krushak Vikash Yojana.
Konark, which occupies a prominent place in India’s Tourism map due to the Sun Temple, is going to be the first model town in Odisha to shift from grid dependency to green energy.
Although Odisha has a large deposit of power-grade thermal coal in Talcher and Ib valley, the State is keen to reduce dependency on conventional sources of power generation and shift towards renewable energy. The programme aims to ensure all energy needs of Konark Temple and Konark twn are met by solar power.
Shri Dev had a discussion on benchmarking the benefits offered to Green Hydrogen/Ammonia Developers vis-à-vis other State’s Policies so that the interest of the State can be upheld.
He also received information regarding E-mobility ventures, Renewable Energy based e2W charging ventures and other proposed plans to be taken up by OREDA. Besides the Corporatization of OREDA, financial stability issues were also discussed in the meeting.
Earlier, the Principal Secretary had visited the office of EIC Electricity and took a review of various projects and programmes being implemented by the office. He had also reviewed the electricity duty collection against the target and collection electricity dues through One Time Settlement (OTS).
Shri Dev discussed ongoing awareness campaigning on electrical safety inspection and energy conservation and directed the officials to ensure speedy delivery of services to the people.
