AMMAN, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) — Jordan and Egypt signed 12 agreements on Monday to strengthen their cooperation in various fields, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
Following the 31st session of the Jordanian-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee held in Amman on Monday, the two sides inked the agreements that cover the areas of economic policymaking, financial oversight, environmental protection, social affairs, media, culture, vocational training, social security, health, religious endowments, and postal services.
Jordanian Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh stressed that Jordan-Egypt relations are “an example to follow” in the joint Arab action, as the two countries are always keen on coordination and consultation over issues of mutual interest.
He emphasized that Amman and Cairo share the view that regional stability cannot be achieved without a fair, comprehensive and long-lasting solution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution.
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbuly, who led a delegation to attend the meeting, said it is part of the “strategic and historical” relations between the two countries, noting that the two sides have overcome most of the committee’s challenges over the past few years.
He also said the two countries are now willing to cooperate in new projects in the fields of renewable energy, green hydrogen, and green ammonia, among other programs that could bring benefits for both sides. ■
