Green energy supplier Hyphen Hydrogen Energy has signed a partnership agreement with construction engineering company ILF Consulting Engineers to support the development of its $10 billion green hydrogen project in Namibia.
Under the agreement, ILF Consulting Engineers will serve as the management consultant for the project, and will provide technical expertise, procurement and contract advice, and implementation expertise to support Hyphen Hydrogen Energy’s socioeconomic development goals for the southern African country.
“We are proud to be a part of this significant lighthouse project,” stated Dr. Michel Kneller, Director of Hydrogen at ILF, adding, “By providing our engineering and project management consultancy services to this unique venture, we can contribute to the energy transition. Hydrogen plays a crucial role in transforming our energy system and we are convinced it is key to a sustainable future.”
Situated in the Tsau Khaeb National Park in southwestern Namibia, the prject will target an output of one million tons of green ammonia by 2027, with plans to produce two million tons by the end of the decade. At full scale, the project is estimated to produce 350,000 tons of green hydrogen annually, mitigating roughly 5-6 tons of CO2 emissions each year.
