Egypt and Jordan’s Prime Ministers witnessed on Monday the signing of 12 MoUs in economic, energy and social fields to boost cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides signed the MoUs following the 31st session of the Higher Jordanian-Egyptian Committee in Amman.
In a joint press conference held following the signing, Jordanian Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh and Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly highlighted that the two sides signed multiple MoUs, including those in economic ad developmental policies and financial and securities supervision.
Al-Khasawneh also noted that the Jordan News Agency and its Egyptian counterpart MENA signed a cooperation programme.
Furthermore, the meeting saw the signing of MoUs between Jordan’s General Social Security Corporation and Egypt’s National Social Insurance Authority and between the health ministries of both countries, he said.
Another MoU was signed between the Religious endowment ministries in both countries. In addition, Jordan Post and the Egyptian Postal Authority signed an agreement in the area of electronic postal payment services, according to the Jordanian PM.
Al-Khasawneh also stated that he discussed with the Egyptian officials promoting cooperation in pharmaceutical industries between the two countries to the level of pharmaceutical integration.
The two PMs further discussed the trilateral mechanism that brings together Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq.
The Jordanian premier also stated that he discussed wth his Egyptian counterpart the efforts to enhance the capacity of the electricity transmission line linking Jordan and Egypt, the integration of infrastructure services — particularly in the gas sector — and the joint benefits from facilities along the shared borders of Jordan and Egypt.
Moreover, the two officials discussed the Arab Transport Land Route project, which connects Africa and Asia through Aqaba and traverses Taba and Arish in Egypt before reaching the Mediterranean.
The route will facilitate trade originating from Southeast Asia and passing through the territories of Jordan and Egypt, said Al-Khasawneh.
For his part, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly confirmed that Egypt and Jordan are considering developing their strategic relationship through new projects in renewable energy, green hydrogen, and green ammonia, among others.
The Egyptian PM also said that in light of the expansion and renovation underway at the Egyptian ports on the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, Eypt and Jordan can make a giant leap in transit trade, noting that Jordan can utilize the upgraded Egyptian ports to boost its exports and imports at a relatively low cost.
Madbouly also pointed out that he discussed electricity interconnection projects with the Jordanian Prime Minister, stressing that the 550-megawatt electricity line that connects Egypt and Jordan will be upgraded to 2000 megawatts.
Earlier Monday, PM Madbouly headed to Amman to participate in the 31st session of the committee. He led a high-level delegation that included the ministers of electricity, renewable energy, and petroleum and mineral resources.
